"Every thought vibrates, every thought radiates a signal, and every thought attracts a matching signal back. We call that process the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction says: That which is like unto itself is drawn. And so, you might see the powerful Law of Attraction as a sort of Universal Manager that sees to it that all thoughts that match one another line up." ~ Esther & Jerry Hicks from Ask and It Is Given
That's the best definition of The Law of Attraction I've read. (Like I've said before, this book is pretty much The Bible for The Law of Attraction. :)
In their great book, Ask and It Is Given, Esther and Jerry compare The Law of Attraction to tuning a radio. If we'd like to listen to something on 102.7FM, we can't expect to hear it if our radio's set to 98.7, right?!? Of course not. The radio waves of one frequency can only be received by a matching tuner.
Same thing goes in the "real" world. If we want to receive love and abundance in our life, we need to set our tuner to the same vibrational frequency as love and abundance, eh?
To put it bluntly: If you're a jerk, do you expect to receive an overwhelming abundance of love in your life? It's IMPOSSIBLE. You're putting out all kinds of "jerk" energy and that's pretty much what you'll get back.
I can see it in my own life and I'm sure you can, too. Let's take the most mundane example: I'm calling customer service for something. Now, I can be an impatient, angry jerk and guess what? If the conversation is long enough, typically even the usually kindest customer service agent will respond in kind. On the other hand, I can think about how grateful I am that I live in a world that even allows me to have the "problem" for which I'm seeking support and call with an energy of gratitude and eagerness to light this person's day up. What happens? I have a great little exchange with the agent and we both get off the phone with a smile.
Why is that? Esther and Jerry tell us it's The Law of Attraction. You're going to get back what you put out. "That which is like unto itself is drawn."
Powerful stuff! So let's pick our radio stations consciously (love songs, perhaps ;), and make sure you've got yourself tuned in to hear the wonderful music.
Here's to attracting the experiencing we intend!
