"If your knowledge of fire has been turned to certainty by words alone, then seek to be cooked by the fire itself. Don't abide in borrowed certainty. There is no real certainty until you burn; if you wish for this, sit down in the fire." ~ Rumi from Rumi: Daylight
"Borrowed certainty"--whether it's from our family or friends or church or country--is never a very good place to dwell...
We must discover our own truth.
As the Buddha says: "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
Amen.
Time to get cookin' in the truth, eh?!?
I'll save a seat for you in the fire!! :)

"Conventional opinion is the ruin of our souls."
